Do you remember a recent article we wrote about Aereo Broadcasting and its power to efficiently cut the cord between the TV users and the traditional ways of getting their favorite shows and channels? Well, this is not going to be about Aereo, but a new competitor on the market of cords cutting, which goes by the name of Flipps TV app and which allows people to get more than 100 channels on an iOS or Android powered smartphone or on their smart TV at home. According to some official statements trying to put Flipps TV app into a bright light, it seems that
Flipps works with more than 250 million connected televisions worldwide — everything from Internet TVs to sets connected via the Xbox One or Apple TV
or so Flipps CEO Kosta Jordanov says. If you were wondering what happened with the much appreciated Roku and Amazon Fire TV, we are sorry to disappoint, but they didn’t make it to Flipps’s interests’ list. However, rest assured that Flipps is actually very interesting as a cord cutter: you have a lot of free options and some paid ones that will probably not replace your favorite cable provider tomorrow, but are interesting and should be kept in mind.
Let’s start with the movies, as they are the most desirable ones (as in to have instant access to via your smartphone): you have free movie services offering you quite an interesting assorted plateau of B-Rated movies and some “oldies but goldies” cinema gems and we will only name Crackle, Osiris Entertainment, and Kit Parker Films. If you are not satisfied with your selection, you can spend an average of $50 annual subscription to Wibi.tv, a land of joy and amazement, as it gives you access to top – notch, new and famous movies and we will only say The Hobbit and Iron Man 3 to give you an idea. Moreover, Wibi is also going to be very generous with you: every week you will have free access to nine movies. The downside is that you won’t be able to choose the free movies you want to see, because Wibi will choose them for you, but if you’re counting Life of Pi, Gravity and other cool fresh movies delivered via the Wibi, the offer gets quite appealing.
The Flipps TV app also gives you access to a lot of major music video channels, mainstream news channels, cartoon channels, lifestyle and fashion channels, educational programs, fitness and sports shows too. About the sports, if you’re the type of couch potato living on mainstream basketball and baseball, you might be quite disappointed. However, if your tastes in sports allow a plate of college baseball and pro hoops shooting, then you may enjoy your Flipps TV app to its max.
Now don’t think the app wasn’t tested, tossed and turned by specialists in order to reveal its flaws and drawbacks. The conclusion: of course it’s not the perfect device, but it seems it has everything necessary to become a hit in cord cutting and finding alternative ways to break up with your TV provider.
