On Thursday, Ford is inaugurating its new Research and Innovation Center which is located in Silicon Valley. It is intended to become the largest automotive centers in that area. This recent analysis center will be under the supervision of Dragos Maciuca, Apple’s former executive.
Ford’s research center is planning to expand its current team of engineers. By the end of the year, Ford will employ 125 software engineers, user-experience ones, business and development executives, IT specialists and leading personnel in marketing divisions. Its executive director, Dragos Maciuca has an astonishing experience in electronics and semiconductor manufacturing. Besides these two main specializations, he is also an expert in aerospace and automotive technology.
At the beginning, the Research and Innovation Center will be conducted by engineers transferred from Dearborn. Some discussions may occur, because the new employees will be highly compensated. In return, Ford will ask for brand new ideas, earth-shattering ones to be more exact.
The company intends to set connections and reinforce older ones between its engineers and technology societies and universities. These specialists will collaborate with other engineers outside the Ford Company in order to provide best services. The plan on working together as a team in order to better apply technology matters.
Ford has chosen to open its research center in Silicon Valley because the area is considered to be the center of ideas. Therefore, Ford must be a part of this stream of ideas. The company also aims to be part of this center and be seen as “component of the ecosystem”, ecosystem meaning Silicon Valley.
Moreover, the company has successfully intended to be an auto company as well as a mobility company. Their ultimate goal is to bring innovation in each and every part of the auto business.
The new center is intended to satisfy customer’s needs and desires in relation to mobility, connectivity and autonomy in vehicles. These three main purposes should be available for every customer not only rich ones. This means that Ford intends to bring innovation and connectivity in all cars, not only luxury ones.
At Ford’s presentation about its recent opened center, the company also showed its viewers a preview of Google Nest smart home technology. This gadget allows its user to connect to a thermostat back at home and communicate with it. The user can make any changes he wants regardless of the fact that he is leaving home or returning to it.
