Although the HTC One might have been launched with a little outdated version of Android, Jelly Bean 4.1 to be specific, what is commendable is that HTC is living up to its promise of updating the HTC One to the latest Android version, that of Jelly Bean 4.2.2. The update was first made available in Taiwan just a couple of days ago and has already being released in other nations as well, which includes some selected European nations. HTC had first launched the update for the dual sim version of the One smartphone which is sold only in China and Russia. This was followed with the update for the single sim version of the HTC flagship device sold everywhere else.
Apart from the stored features in the Android 4.2.2 version which includes quick settings, the screen lock widget, or Daydream, what is special with the latest HTC update is that it also comes with a few more features which no doubt will appeal to the users of the smartphone. For HTC is also offering a unique feature as per which holding on to the home button for a bit longer will be all that is needed to launch the menu selection. A nice move as it would enable the users to bypass the black menu bar which again is not to everybody’s liking. Along with it one also gets auto focus in camera, notifications that are interactive, battery percentage which is displayed on the status bar and some more of these. To check whether the update is rolled out in one’s own nation, tap on the software update option in the phone’s setting. For those who have HTC One through some carrier, the wait will be a bit longer.
