HTC One X+ and One X will not get Android Jelly Bean 4.3 update

January 13, 2014 By Micheal Baptiste Leave a Comment

htc-one-x+ HTC has been updating their One range to Android KitKat 4.4, but it looks like the previous generation of devices will not be getting any more updates and the HTC One X and One X+ will stay on Android Jelly Bean 4.1 or Android 4.2, depending on the region.

The HTC One X and One X+ were part of the line that started HTCs downfall, before those devices the Taiwanese mobile maker was on top form, but the devices failed to land any significant market share, compared to the iPhone and Samsung’s Android choices.

Since then we have had the HTC One and HTC One Max and the new plan is to make one smartphone for each category, instead of making three similar sized smartphones for three different price points.

The HTC One X+ was a push on the original HTC One X, it had some new features but the same design. We are surprised HTC is not even updating this to the last version of Jelly Bean, considering it would not take a lot of resources to develop the UI and send the update.

HTC announced the news and said while they do apologise to any users effected, they should know both devices have been optimised to have incredible camera and audio features. The audio features are true but we feel like HTC has never been great when it comes to cameras, even with the Ultrapixel.

One of the good things about HTC is their developer openness, for anyone who can download CyanogenMod, the HTC One X and HTC One X+ can be updated straight to Android KitKat 4.4 and it doesn’t need to have Sense UI.

HTC One X to get Android 4.2.2 update in July

June 14, 2013 By Lori David 2 Comments

The 2012 flagship of HTC, i.e., the HTC One X is in line for the Android 4.2.2 update in July, as understood from a Twitter discussion between the company’s France ambassador Yves Wi and an insider @LlabTooFeR. The discussion also notes there is no information as yet for the One S update.

The HTC One, the manufacturer’s current flagship, which debuted with the Android 4.1.2 version, will be upgraded to the latest Android iteration before the HTC One X gets its turn. The HTC One X, which made its 2012 debut with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich version has already gone through an official upgrade to the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean version. The Samsung Galaxy S4, the hot rival of HTC One, runs on Android 4.2.2.

It appears as if HTC is trying to keep pace with Samsung, which has a good track record for keeping its older handsets up-to-date. The Galaxy S3 and Note 2 are expecting the same upgrade sooner or later after their June schedule was postponed. In this context, HTC’s July update-schedule won’t push it too far behind.

The One X update is likely to bring some of the features of the One, such as improvements to the Sense 5 user interface, the ability to store app icons in the App Drawer and clearing the App Dock completely. Some of the touted features of HTC One’s Sense 5 UI include BlinkFeed, Beats Audio and Zoe.

HTC is also launching a HTC One Mini to take on Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini shortly. Rumors also point to an Android 4.3 upgrade for HTC One X at some point this year. Well, all of the aforementioned info is not official, but just a heads up to anticipate HTC’s official announcement anytime.

HTC One X+ Could Probably Get Android Key Lime Pie – Check Out The Update

May 5, 2013 By Nicholas Anderton Leave a Comment

It is being estimated that Google is set to release its newer Android version, 5.0 Key Lime Pie.

However, Google has not yet confirmed anything over its official release date or the devices that would be fortunate enough to run on this powerful OS.

There is no scarcity of buzzes regarding this and recently, some sources have revealed that the HTC One X+ will be one of the few devices to experience the Android Key Lime Pie 5.0 at the initial stage of its release.

In May, Google will organize the Google I/O conference for associates, developers, hosting events and workshops for individuals associated with Chrome, Android and more. At almost every I/O conference, the tech-giant comes up with new products. Last year, it announced Android Jelly Bean v4.1.1 and Nexus 7. But for this year, rumors around Android Key Lime Pie v5.0 are hot-on-top.

This new version of Android is being kept a secret and its arrival at the upcoming Google I/O conference has not been confirmed. But buzzes over devices to receive this powerful update do not seem to cool down.

HTC One X+ was released in October 2012 and runs on Android Jelly Bean v.4.1.1. Recently, there were rumors about the device receiving Android v.4.2.2 Jelly Bean update.

Google has made an official statement over its next I/O conference to be held in between May 15 and 17. Previous year, Google unveiled Android v.4.1.1 Jelly Bean in June. So, it is quite possible for fans to expect a newer Android version at the upcoming Google I/O conference.

Some sources reveal that HTC One X+’s last update would be Android Jelly Bean v.4.2.2 but on the contrary, with Google’s next I/O conference knocking at the door, geeks are predicting that HTC One X+ will be one amongst the few to experience Android 5.0 initially.

HTC One X Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update For AT&T

March 12, 2013 By Brandi McCants Leave a Comment

Keeping up to the recent tradition of American based carriers taking their time upgrading device software is AT&T. The second biggest carrier in the United States is following in the footstep of its close competitor Verizon in drawing anger from customers because devices are not updated to the latest platform software’s. AT&T has taken its merry time updating the HTC One X to Android version 4.1 Jelly Bean, but the company is now finally sending out the update.

The HTC One X should not be confused with HTC’s recently launched HTC One. The One X is the company’s 2012 flagship launched in Q2 of 2012, the HTC One it the company’s current flagship for 2013 (and of course already running Jelly Bean 4.1). AT&T is lagging behind in updating the HTC One X, especially when we consider that the global version of the device was updated way back in November.

The update is rolling out over the air so all HTC One X and to access it users need to head to Settings > about phone > Check for updates. The Jelly Bean update to 4.1 comes with a bunch of new features such as Google Now and a host of bespoke AT&T apps, including:

AT&T Locker – Allows you to automatically store photos, videos and documents securely in the cloud, so you can access and share from your smartphone or computer.

AT&T DriveMode®  – Helps curb texting and driving.  The app can be set-up to automatically send a customizable reply to incoming messages once a vehicle starts moving 25 mph. The auto-reply message is similar to an “out-of-office alert” and can reply to texts, emails and wireless callers letting your friends know that you are driving and unable to respond.*

AT&T Messages – Displays all your texts, calls, and voicemail messages together in a single inbox, easily accessible from your computer, tablet, or mobile phone.

A decent amount of stuff we think you would agree, so maybe we can see now why this update was long in the works.
