iOS 7 Release Date Rumors – iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 to debut later

June 19, 2013 By Brandi McCants Leave a Comment

The latest prediction about iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 release dates comes from Stabley Times’ Phil Moore, who says that a July launch is possible if Apple decides to release them with the current iOS 6. Both the devices are ready, but if Apple decides not to launch them in July, then they will come with the iOS 7 this Fall, together with the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 6.

iOS-7

If indeed Apple decides to delay the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 release, then, this Fall will mark the simultaneous debut of Apple’s two epic product lines, the iPhone and the iPad. As of now, rumors say that the iPad Mini 2 is all set to launch, while the iPad 5 is awaiting an official reveal.

Of late, Apple’s product release schedules have become more unpredictable. Apple’s usual trend is to launch the new iPhone and new iOS in Fall and the new iPad variants in Spring. However, the company took on an unexpected approach last year, unveiling the new iPhone and iOS in September and then, waiting for another month to reveal the new iPad and iPad Mini, both running on the iOS6.

The iOS 7, when it arrives, will be downloadable on iPads and iPhones via a one-click operation. It is for Apple to assess whether consumers would prefer to wait to buy the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 preinstalled with the overhauled iOS 7, or don’t mind buying the iOS 6-based versions and upgrading to the iOS 7 later.

The iOS 7, the most significant upgrade to Apple’s mobile operating system, is something that Apple fans are eagerly waiting for. Apart from the additional features like AirDrop, Control Center and iTunes Radio, the new platform comes with interesting interface changes that consumers are fervently waiting to experience.

iPhone 6 Release Date along with iOS 7 on Labor Day by Apple?

June 18, 2013 By Micheal Baptiste Leave a Comment

The majestic iPhone 6 is likely to debut in the United States on the Labor Day, i.e. September 2nd, as deduced from latest logics. It appears that the iPhone 6 can make it to the market by the end of August provided Apple begins production right away to match the iOS 7 release date.

Test versions of the new iOS 7 indicate that it is far beyond the beta 1 level, so the platform will likely arrive in Fall. Assuming that Apple will take about three months to release its iOS 7, the iPhone 6 has enough time to debut by the end of August.

Apple’s press invites will come about a week before its launch event. The iPod touch will likely be one of the products launched alongside the iPhone 6. The event will also include additional details on the final version of the iOS 7. The products are likely to hit the market a few days later, after online preorders and release dates are set. Thereafter, the iOS 7 will be downloadable to current iPhones and iPads.

The iPhone 6 will feature an A7 quad core processor and iOS 7, the most significant iteration of Apple’s mobile operating system. The device is likely to come with 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage options. Wireless charging is an expected feature that could address the current iPhone-battery’s quick draining issue.

Based on iPhone 6 concepts, many are expecting to see a fingerprint sensor as an additional security feature. There have been talks regarding an Apple patent about acoustic input for some functions. In other words, users can provide sound input that will be conducted through the shell to the system.

For now, iPhone fans will just have to follow the developments of iOS 7 to deduce the release date of the iPhone 6.

Apple iOS 7 Release Date – Check Out the Features

June 2, 2013 By Brandi McCants 1 Comment

Apple’s upcoming iOS 7 is the talk of the tech town right now, with reports coming in pointing towards Apple providing with an in-depth view of what the latest iteration of its mobile operating system will be like during the WWDC event itself. However, a full scale release could happen only around September and October which is when Apple has usually been releasing its previous versions as well. The last version, iOS 6 has largely been a hit except for the Apple Maps fiasco that had led to the company’s map feature to be the butt of many a joke worldwide. With that firmly behind us, here is what we expect the iOS 7 to be like.

iOS7

Design wise, the new iOS 7 is expected to give up on its fake textures and effects as it adopts a more simplistic and clean design. The base aps such a Calendar, Safari, Game Center and so on are expected to be trimmed down quite a bit from what they are at present. There will be a bit of surprise for iPhone users as well as iOS 7 is expected to replace the vibrant look and feel of the device with something that is ‘more minimalist and monochromatic’ in its feel. The lock screen too has gone for a redesign so that the glossy image and the clock will give way to a simple black screen. Seems like even the security code pad too wasn’t pared from the redesign efforts so that it now sports round black keys and white texts.

These apart, the other features that we hope will be included in iOS 7 find mention below.

Swype keyboard, which is already a hit on Android devices and rightfully so since it not only makes for easy typing using the on-screen keyboard, but it actually is a fun way to type as well. Maybe it’s time Apple has something of the sort for iPhone or iPad users as well.

Apple’s mobile devices now comes with the Passbook feature though something of the sort of Mobile Wallet and NFC will perhaps add to its appeal even more.

Apple is also reported to have loosened up a bit on third part customizations, which will make it easy for developers to add more features and widgets to iOS 7.

Fortunately, we won’t have to wait too long to come to the bottom of it all as the WWDC event kicks off on June 10 itself.

iOS 7 Release Date to Feature Johny Ive’s futuristic design

May 27, 2013 By Micheal Baptiste Leave a Comment

Apple’s iOS 7 is likely to undergo sweeping changes with Johny Ive leading the iOS team. Expectations abound with manifold rumors, and the latest report from 9to5Mac says that the redesign will avoid complicated textures and focus on a “flat design” with more black and white elements on the user interface.

iOS-7

In general, the overhaul will do away with features like drop shadow and tone down colors that provide the pop-up like designs in the current version. The redesign will add scrollable wallpapers continuing across all home screens – resembling Android – in place of the static image style.

Among the updated UI features, the new OS will remove the slide-to-unlock shiny bar and incorporate a black and hushed interface. The numerical pad for lock code entry is also expected to get a facelift. The linen backdrop of the Notification Center will be changed to a grey milieu with white text. Additional Notification Center widgets are also likely.

Considering rumors that the iPhone will come with a Fingerprint recognition feature, iOS 7 is likely to provide software support for the feature. The control panel is likely to be updated for gesture control from the home screen to increase functionality.

Some of the new features include an exclusive FaceTime app for iPhone, Flicker, Vimeo integration and Siri for hands-free operation. New APIs are also expected, so developers can augment the functionality of apps.

Most of the changes seem to be improvements rather than extra features. Apple is likely to launch the new OS along with the new iPhone and iPad hardware. With the iOS 7 likely to be introduced at the WWDC event in June 10th, it remains to be seen whether rumors of the major overhaul will turn out to be true.

iOS 7 Release Date to Feature Vimeo and Flickr integration

May 23, 2013 By Micheal Baptiste Leave a Comment

Reportedly, the release date of iOS 7 will feature additional social network support. Previously, Vimeo and Flickr applications needed to be downloaded from iTunes App Store. But with iOS 7, Apple would utilize users’ password and username to connect with Vimeo and Flickr networks. Flickr integration in seventh gen iOS 7 will let users share and store snaps in their Flickr account via the share menu in iOS.

ios-7-flickr-vimeo

iOS 7 will facilitate dedicated Flickr and Vimeo settings in which users’ credentials will be stored so that they need not repeatedly input their username and password for login. Rumors are up in the air about a new Yahoo-Apple relationship. Twitter signups increased by 25% after the network’s official integration into iOS 5. Reportedly, Yahoo moderators are in talks with Apple Inc to initiate Flickr integration in the upcoming iOS.

Vimeo integration will be a competitive step undertaken by Apple. Integration of Vimeo in iOS 7 will reinstate features, which are presently dependant on Google services. The cold war between Apple and Google was hinted when Apple announced exclusion of YouTube application from iOS. Vimeo let users upload, download and share videos.

This was reported by Mark Gurman on Apple News forum, 9to5Mac. The current iOS 6 supports Twitter and Facebook. Twitter and Facebook integration have proven beneficial for both Apple and the two third party social networking sites. Facebook and Twitter are the most widely used social networking sites today. However, Apple is yet to confirm Vimeo and Flickr integration in its iOS 7.

Flickr has been a top snap sharing network, owned by Yahoo, but was recently challenged by Facebook-owned Instagram. Apple is turning its face off from Google. It is clear as Google Maps was eliminated from stock module set in position of Apple’s Shocking Maps application in iOS 6.  Vimeo and Flickr integration in iOS 7 will facilitate Apple users with a wider social sharing space.

iOS 7: Features Where Google has Gone One Up Over Apple

May 20, 2013 By David Crozier 1 Comment

The 2013 edition of the Google I/O developers conference will be known more for the services and features that the search giant has introduced than for any cool hardware launched. There was no Nexus 7 2 or Android Key Pie Lime announced, both of which were hotly anticipated during the I/O conference. Instead, the lone hardware announced during the event was the Samsung Galaxy S4 running stock Android version but with a steep price tag of $650.

iOS7

However, the Google I/O event still has more than enough food for thought for not only the Google fans and enthusiasts but its competitors – read Apple – as well. The California based company is slated to release its new iOS 7 platform during fall though with the kind of features Google announced during its I/O event should be enough to make for some sleepless nights for the Apple engineers. Interestingly, Apple did not wait to pack in the new features as part of the next Android version. Instead, Google is introducing the new features directly to the apps, which means all existing Android users will be able to make the best of them right away.

Included here are some of the features that could be of concern for Apple iOS 7

The Google Play Music All Access is the name of the music subscription service that the search giant launched during the I/O conference. What is impressive is that the service which can be considered to be a rival to the likes of Spotify or Rdio is a reality right now. Compare this to the iRadio service that Apple is rumored to launch this summer. Not only does Google steal the march here over Apple, what is also impressive is its ability to have struck a deal with the biggies in the music industry before Apple could do the same. The Google Play Music service can be availed of for a nominal $9.99 a month after a free one month trial period. Google also has an incentive for those who subscribe before June 30, for they will be required to pay just $7.99 every month.

As for its features, the Google Play Music offers a vast pool of tracks from which users will be able to create their own playlists as per songs or artists. This apart, Google Play Music will also recommend songs which it hopes will appeal to the user based on his personal preferences.

Google virtual assistant, Google Now is another thing that can prove a bit tricky for Apple’s Siri to handle. True an obvious advantage with Siri is the ease with which it can be accessed on every iPhone, this also is one of the biggest disadvantage with Google Now as the latter is not accessible on all Android devices. Nevertheless, Google Now has been provided with some cool enhancements which include its ability to set reminders based on time and location as well as for addresses no present in one’s contact list.

Google Now will also be able to extract information based on your search pattern as well as your e-mails to provide you with such information such as hotel and flight details and so on. Apple, with no search engine or an email service to its credit might have a hard time to match Google Now’s new found abilities. Apple is reported to be in talks with Yahoo to make for the former’s lack of a search engine though it remains to be how that can make Siri smarter.

Another area where Google has scored a lead over Apple is online chatting. True Apple can boast of FaceTime and iMessage though the service is only available on iOS devices while FaceTime only allows video chats with a single person. Compare these to Google Hangouts that enables one to get into a chat or video call with any Google users, irrespective of the device used. Hangouts also allows for video calls with multiple people.

Lastly, Apple might have started the trend with iOS 6 that allowed iPhone users to upload their photos to the cloud. New photo features introduced at Google+ take things a few step ahead. For what users can now get into is edit the photos to make them look awesome, a feature appropriately named Auto Awesome. Other cool additions to the photo features include the ability to recognize photos that are blurred or too grainy. It can even smooth out the wrinkles and blemishes for the characters to look smarter.

In comparison, Apple’s PhotoStream can only deal with a thousand photos while also lacking any sort of editing tools.

As such, it will be highly interesting to see how Apple tries to match the new Google features in its new iOS 7 platform which is expected to be unveiled at the WWDC 2013 event scheduled on the 10th June.
