LG Optimus G Pro Release Date, Features, Specs And Other Essentail Details, Set at $900 Price Tag

February 26, 2013 By Micheal Baptiste Leave a Comment

We have to say that this year is shaping up to be a classic year of smartphone releases, with a whole bunch of world class handsets finding their way to market. In a normal year we are normally treated to one or two devices that can claim to be the best on the market, but this year we have the HTC One, Sony Xperia Z, Blackberry Z10, Apple iPhone 5S, and the Samsung Galaxy S4 either already released or on their way. Whatever your personal opinion on those devices, each does have a claim to being called the best current phone, and we can also add the LG Optimus G Pro to the mix.

The new flagship smartphone from Korean giant LG looks every bit as good as its competition, so let’s take a closer look at the Optimus Pro G and find out what we can expect. We have already seen a number of press images of the upcoming device, and today LG has announced some further details on their upcoming phablet.

Of course we have to start with the specs, which as you would expect from a premier device are high-end to say the least. the G Pro will feature a full HD 1920 x 1080 5.5-inch display resulting in a pixel density of about 440 400 ppi, which will make this the first full HD smartphone on the market. The device will be powered by the rapid Snapdragon 600 processor which will be backed up by 2GB of RAM, while built in storage is capped to 32GB. On the back LG has slapped a 13-megapixel rear camera, while the front facer is a solid 2-MP lens.

The Optimus G Pro is already available in Korea and we have to say it is impressing in reviews, so it is another viable contender for being named the top Android device (the newest Jelly Bean is the G Pro platform). However in Korea the handset is selling for an eye-watering $900. That of course will not be the price on Western shores, but we still expect the Optimus G Pro to carry a hefty price tag, but at least we will get plenty of bang for our buck.

LG Confirms Optimus Pro G for the USA, has Samsung in its Sights

February 22, 2013 By Micheal Baptiste 1 Comment

LG’s new flagship smartphone the Optimus Pro G has already been announced for Korea and Europe, and today it was the turn of the United States as the Korean company confirmed that the Optimus Pro G has been confirmed for Q 2 this year. The device will pit itself against Samsung’s hugely popular Galaxy Note 2, a handset that clearly inspired LG’s latest.

In fact there are those who say LG was not only inspired by the Note 2 but has outright copied it, and there is certainly plenty of Samsung’s phone in the Optimus Pro G design and conception. When Samsung launched the Galaxy Note and then the Note 2 last year, the Korean tech giant proved that there was a market for “phablet” phones, handsets that are small enough to be a smartphone but also big enough to be a tablet.

Many companies have reacted to Samsung’s big screen success by delivering their own phablet offerings. Sony is coming forth with the Xperia Z, while Chinese brands like ZTE and Huawei are also going big. However, none has followed the Galaxy Note 2 mould quite like LG. Just one look at the Optimus Pro G and the Galaxy Note 2 side by side will reveal a striking resemblance, while in terms of specs they are both very similar, which means the LG handset packs a punch under the hood.

The Optimus Pro G sports a full 1920 x 1080 HD display (making this the first full HD smartphone), quad-core 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2.1-megapixel front facer, and a 13-MP rear camera. The handset is certainly a formidable unit, but will LG manage to dent Samsung’s significant appeal in the United States and beyond?

LG is selling other smartphones in solid numbers, certainly enough to carve out its own market place, however even the super quick Optimus Pro G is unlikely to take the title of phablet king from Samsung. There has been no word on exact release dates for the Optimus Pro G in the U.S. while LG has not issued price details either.
