Lenovo Uses Prankvertising for Yoga 3 Pro Pitch

By Leave a Comment

Lenovo took a slightly different turn with its latest prankvertising. Three comedians of Upright Citizens Brigade messed with some people in a mall and it is all caught on tape. One of them attracts walkers-by with the new Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro, a bendable laptop. First, the Yoga’s capabilities are displayed. Afterwards, the fake store employee attempts to bend a Mac, which, obviously, breaks in two. He passes the broken pieces to the visitor, and walks away, allegedly looking for a colleague. Another employee comes and accuses the poor victim of braking an expensive device. Hilarity ensues! Well, not for those who had fingers pointed at them.

Yes, Lenovo, we got it, Yoga bends, hence the name, while Macs are stiff. Let’s check out if Yoga 3 Pro manages to raise up to its promises.

The Windows-based ultrabook is very thin, which makes it highly recommended for tablet mode usage. It’s even thinner and lighter than the previous generation. The hinges look stunning and seem reliable. If anything, each looks like an expensive metal “watchband” as Lenovo named the new technology. While most manufacturers go for the classical two hinges option, Lenovo placed six hinges, just to ensure that the premium product will last for a long time.

Like Yoga 2, the ultrabook works as a regular notebook, a tablet and a tent. Dedicated software will even tell you how much time the device spent in each mode.

At just 2.62 pounds, Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro is lighter than MacBook Air. It comes with a touchscreen as well, which is usually heavier than non-touch displays.

There is a trick behind the overall lighter appearance. Yoga 3 uses Intel Core M, a new platform launched this year. The 1.1GHz Intel M-5Y70 comes with the new Intel HD 5300. Core M is the most energy efficient platform to date, which means that Yoga 3 can survive with a smaller battery.

While Yoga 2 came with a 54 Wh battery, the next generation has just 44.8. It translates in roughly seven and a half hours of usage. MacBook Air, although just a bit bulkier, can run for almost 13 hours, a notable difference.

Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro comes in two version, a 256 SSD one for $1300 and a 512 SSD one for an extra $200. Both sport a gorgeous 3,800 X 1,800 display and 8 GB of RAM.
