Early last month, Samsung had officially announced its Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom. This would be the first Android camera centric phone from Samsung as its specs indicate. Or rather, the S4 Zoom happens to be one of the most audacious attempts to innovate on a smartphone platform with specific emphasis on enhancing its photographic abilities.
The S4 Zoom marks the culmination of all such efforts so that what we have in the end is a device with a 4.3 inch AMOLED display having a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. Powering the device is a dual core chip clocking at 1.5 Ghz. It would have 1.5 GB of RAM along with 8 GB of internal storage, which is expandable to to 32 GB via micro SD cards. The S4 Zoom would run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with of course a layer of TocuhWiz running on top. Providing the juice is a 2320 mAh battery.
Now coming to what makes the Zoom unique, the device includes a camera of 16 MP resolution. It features 10x Zoom and comes with several other features which includes optical image stabilization, ISO of 100 to 3200 as well as a Xenon flash.
However, on the flip side, the S4 Zoom is a bit bulky. Not much so far as looks of the device goes. The specification makes it appear to be more of a digital camera than a smartphone. Price of the device has not been announced by Google, though a Russian web site lists it at 19,990 rubles which converts to $620. The site also indicates date of its availability as July this year. Another retailer in UK, Clove indicates 8th July as the launch date of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom at its site. The retailer mentions price of £442.80 for the product which includes VAT.
