The Sony Xperia Tablet Z can well be considered the tablet version of their latest flagship smartphone of the same name, the Xperia Z thanks to all that they have in common. And those does sum up to quite a few. Both have impressed a lot of users, which in turn can be attributed to not only their internals but also the premium build quality.
That both are are quite rugged and are water and dust proof has further added to their appeal. Not to mention, the Xperia Tablet Z is the thinnest tablet out there right now.
However, the Tablet Z can be considered to be a bit slow in reaching markets considering Sony had launched the device back in January itself. It was then announced for an April end release though Sony had later clarified the date to be around mid or end of May. While we are already into that part of the year, the tablet has also made it to the pre-order states in Canada.
Those interested can placed their orders directly at the Sony online store. The shipping dates mentioned is May 22 with the prices being $500 and $600 for the 16 GB and 32 GB version of the tablet. When the tablet would be reaching the retailers is anybody’s guess right now though that is likely to be a few days after May 22 when it starts shipping.
As for the specs, the Tablet Z boasts of a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core heart mated to a 2 GB RAM. On-board storage amounts to 16 or 32 GB with a microSD card slot that maxes out at 64 GB also available for those who need more. The tablet is powered by a 6000 mAh battery and offers a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 display. The tablet runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean though Sony has stated the upgrade to Android 4.2 would be made available soon after launch. An 8.1 megapixel camera at the rear along with a 2.2 megapixel shooter at the front pretty much rounds up the tech specs.
