Sony Xperia Z Release Date On T-Mobile – Would It Be The First Carrier In USA?

May 5, 2013 By David Crozier 1 Comment

T-Mobile has been heard of testing out the Sony Xperia Z, thus fueling speculation the Sony flagship smartphone could be the next big offering from the US Mobile service provider. Magenta had on previous occasions also taken up such mobile sets such as the One X+ to figure out if it made enough sense to get into retailing these. The One X+ failed to make the cut and there is no guarantee the Xpeira Z too won’t be meted out a similar treatment.

That said, the story with the Xperia Z model does seems to be going a direction which has a happy ending. The most affirmative indicator of Magenta taking this set more seriously than the prior models can be had from the FCC site. The Xperia Z has been found listed under T-Mobiles HSPA+ LTE brands. No doubt this will be exciting for Xperia Z fans in the US, particularly those who already can be counted among T-Mobile customer base.

While its true just an FCC listing as an indicator isn’t just powerful enough to hinge your entire belief on, there also are enough evidence to prove things could be different this time round. That a release date is just round the corner is pretty much evident not just because T-Mobile has listed the set as compatible for the network bands their services include, but also because T-Mobile has included the complete user manual of the Xperia Z in the FCC listing. This should be enough to erase even the last traces of doubt of the Sony’s latest flagship smartphone entering the US market donning the T-Mobile colors.

As for the device, Sony has been pushing the Xperia Z really hard and hopes to garner a sizeable chunk of the burgeoning smartphone market with it where the likes of Apple and Samsung is currently ruling the roost. Dates of release or launch of the smartphone however has not been confirmed so far. Other mobile service providers in the US have not indicated any interest for the Sony Xperia Z. Under the circumstances, what seems pretty much evident is that the Sony Xperia Z would come into the US market in the very near future and it would be via T-Mobile. Consumer interest for the set however can only be gauged after the launch happens.
