"VR gets Great PR with Star Wars "

Google creates a limited edition on Cardboard devices inspired from Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Ever wanted to leave it all behind and try out this new VR fad? Devices capable of rendering VR complex worlds are indeed very expensive and, so far, there is only a handful of apps that can support this new format. But things are about to change because VR gets great PR with Star Wars.

When it comes to gaming and movies, what pops up in your mind? If, by chance, your answers are VR and Star Wars, then you’ve come to the right place. Unfortunately, I can’t say if there will be any Star Wars related game capable of implementing the new VR technology, but what if I told you that there may be a way to bring those two together?

Anticipating the hype surrounding the launch of the new Star Wars movie, Google in planning to smash the market and awe all its competitor with a product, that is sure to pin a smile on your face if you’re a Star War fan.

Remember when Google released that device which was capable of mimicking a pseudo-virtual reality? The device is called Google Cardboard and it is capable of displaying pictures or movies in a 360 degrees perspective. Cardboard uses a couple of complex computational algorithms which are capable of juggling with the perspective in order to create the effect of stereoscopy.

Well, as we said, Google is planning something special for the movie’s premiere. Thus, some time ago, very quietly, they have released a limited edition of Carboard devices featuring the faces of different characters from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. If you thought that the only thing worth waiting for is just the movie, then you’re dead wrong.

How about a device which you can use in order to see the Star Wars trailer in pseudo-VR? Yes, you heard it right. In anticipation of the new technology, Disney has decided to release the new Star Wars movie trailer in VR format.

Now you can use your Google Cardboard device to see all your favorite heroes and villains in a VR set-up. All you have to to in order to get the device is to head on over to Google Store and order it. This limited edition of the device is completely free and you even have the option of receiving the product at home.

According to Google, there are 4 models from which you can choose: Kylo Ren, R2-D2, Stormtrooper, and BB-8. In order to get the device working you’ll have to download the VR app from the store, fire up the video in VR more and stick your phone into the Google Cardboard device. Have fun, and may the Force be with you!
