
Sony partnered up with Versus Evil in order to port Banner Saga to PS Vita.
Recently, Stoic Studios, the indie game developer who launched the critically-acclaimed Banner Saga, announced that with Sony’s help, it will be able to port Banner Saga to other gaming consoles. Banner Saga is coming to PS Vita and the new content is going to blow your mind away.
Gamers were much bereft when they found out that due to several financial setback, Stoic is retiring from the console race. However, before doing so, the indie developer managed to bring Banner Saga to quite a lot of platforms, including PC, PS4 and X-Box One.
Meanwhile, Sony, sniffing out the game’s true potential, has decided to give Stoic Studios a little helping hand.
Thus, Gio Corsi, Sony’s Third Party PR man, has announced that Sony will partner up with independent game studio Versus Evil in order to continue working on porting Banner Saga to other consoles.
As for the game itself, according to several representatives from both Sony and Stoic Studios, the dev team has in plan to release the second part of the game.
For those of you who have not heard about this games, The Banner Saga is a squad-based TBS game, which also feature a couple of RPG elements. In term of game design and/or atmosphere, it would seem that the game has a nordic look.
The story is set during an alternative timeline, where Norse heroes would arise in order to do battle with a magical fiend who is able to summon rock people. As the story goes, at the dawn of time, an alliance of Humans and Varls was forged in order to wage war against the Dredge, a mysterious race of stone people.
The first part of Banner Saga is divided into six chapters, each one of them being narrated from a different point of view.
Concerning gameplay and game mechanics, as stated, Banner Saga is a TBS with RPG elements. The game does seem familiar if we are to think about great RPG games like IceWind Dale or Skyrim.
Banner Saga is coming to PS Vita, thanks to Kickstarter and not to mention Sony. As a fun fact: Stoic Studio was able to launch the game by relying on Kickstarter’s funds. According to several gaming sites, it would seem that Stoic’s intention was to raise approximately 100000 dollars. But something happened along the way and the dev team ended up with 720000 dollars in their bank account.
We are eager to see what the new port will feel and if the company’s decision of launching Banner Saga 2 will materialize or not.
