The SwiftKey Keyboard Is Now Free and Upgraded

June 12, 2014 By Nicholas Anderton Leave a Comment

swiftkey keyboard If you are an Android fan and used the SwiftKey Keyboard, you will be happy to hear that starting from yesterday, the SwiftKey keyboard is free and sports some interesting features too.

This third – party software keyboard is pretty popular and its developers proudly announced in a blog post that users will be able to get the keyboard from Google Play for zero dollars. Moreover,

To thank our users who have paid for SwiftKey Keyboard in the past, we’re offering you a Premier Pack of 10 new premium themes to download, worth $4.99, for free! All users, including newcomers, can download an additional three free themes from the store, and there’s more content coming soon.

This looks like a very good deal, especially since the keyboard upgraded with new features including support for predicting more than 800 emojis and a batch of over 30 new themes. Let’s sum up the most compelling features of the new and upgraded SwiftKey keyboard:

SwiftKey Store – this is like Amazon for SwiftKey, as you will find there all the add-ons and the free and paid themes you want.

Emoji – they are only available for Android 4.1 and up operating systems, but it’s not like you fell behind on upgrading your OS.

Emoji prediction – the keyboard will eventually predict the right emoji based on your prior use of emoji in certain contexts. The keyboard learns something about your texting habits and turns your life into an emoji – full adventure

New languages – according to the news, the SwiftKey keyboard now supports 66 languages, with the recently introduced Belarusian, Mongolian, Tatar, Uzbek and Welsh.

There are plenty of more upgrades and new features to enjoy. However, if you are an iOS user, you shouldn’t feel disappointed. If we listen to the tech experts,

All the SwiftKey fun has so far been exclusively Android, but, to coincide with the compatibility of third-party software keyboards in Apple’s forthcoming iOS 8, SwiftKey confirmed earlier this month that a full version of its keyboard will be coming to the App Store soon enough. So far, though, the particulars on whether or not the iPhone and iPad version of SwiftKey will also be free and include all these new goodies have yet to be shared.

However, the competition between SwifKey and Apple will be hard to ignore: while SwiftKey licensed its technology to Samsung and Blackberry, Apple worked on its own predictive keyboard to come together with the new iOS 8. From this point of view, it is clear that we will see some racing between the two in the immediate future.
