Technology Can Be Cute

PetBot lets you interact with your dog when you’re away

This year’s CES in Las Vegas proved that technology can be cute. Besides all the techy-fancy devices developers have also presented a more adorable part of technology.

One very adorable piece of technology is Tapia, a robot with cute facial expressions and large blue eyes designed by a Japanese company to assist elderly in their struggle to keep up with technology. Get your grandma a Tapia robot and she won’t have to remember how to use a phone, or what is your home number. She will just tell Tapia to call you and in only a few moments you’ll be able to hear nana’s voice.

Tapia runs with Android 5.0 so your grandma will still need a smartphone and Wi-Fi connection. But after setting these up, Tapia will know to tell you the weather forecast, to check the emails and even interact with other smart-home devices.

As pets are the cutest part of our lives, technology created for them can’t be anything but cute. And developers feet on our need to connect more with our furry friends so a lot of new inventions in this field have been presented this year in Las Vegas.

One of them is PawCam, a small camera which will start filming whenever it senses your pet is more active than usually. Just connect PawCam to your home Wi-Fi and it will automatically send you the footage to watch your smartphone wherever you are. The filming is kept on the cloud so you can share it on the social networks or just keep the memories.

Another very cute invention has been developed by two US teenagers – Harshita Gupta, 17 and Xyla Foxlin, 19. The two girls invented Parihug – a pair of bears connected through Wi-Fi. When one bear is being hugged the other vibrates so the bears can act like proxies for people who live at distance from one another.

The two inventors say that hugs release oxytocin in the brain so a person missing somebody could get more from a hug than they get from a video.

PetBot is another app for pets or more exactly for dogs, especially for those who love treats. It is a gadget that includes a monitor, speaker and microphone so you can talk to your dog when you are away from home and he will hear you. More than that, PetBot allows you to reward your adorable companion with a treat. Now you can go to the office without feeling guilty that your furry child spends too much time alone.
