Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus are the most important brands on the phablet market. Starting today, a new competitor showed up on the scene. Xiaomi, a renowned handset maker from China, has released today Xiaomi Mi Note.
Xiaomi Mi Pad is an iPad product that looks very much like an Apple iPad. The situation is not the same in the phablet’s case. The company based in Beijing is the third largest maker and distributor of handsets in the world and faced a rapid expansion. Founded in the summer of 2010, the company is now evaluated at $45 billion. Recently it has raised $1.1 billion from its investors.
The Xiaomi Mi Note is expected to be the new sensation on the market. The device has a display of 5.7 inches. This makes it able to compete to iPhone 6 Plus from Apple that features a display of 5.5 inches. It has an attractive design, with two Gorilla Glass 3 curved panes that hold between them a metallic frame.
Thursday it was released in a presentation by CEO of Xiaomi Inc, Lei Jun and he was not hesitant in comparing the product with Apples iPhone 6 Plus. Xiaomi Mi Note is both lighter, weighing 161 grams, and slimmer (6.95 millimeters) than its better known competitor, the Apple premium product.
Two variants will be available on the market. The standard model will be released in China on 27th January and in March the “Pro” model, a premium alternative of the product. The first device will have a 3GB of RAM, a camera of 13 megapixels. The additional camera at the front will have 4 megapixels. Its processor is a 2.5 GHz quadcore, the screen is a high definition one of 1080p. It features also a Sabre DAC. This is an audio converter from the category of digital-to-analog converters that can support amps dual audio in an effort to achieve a great audio quality on large headphones and small ones. It will have dual-SIM feature included. The “Pro” model will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor on 2GHz, an Adreno 430 GPU, QHD screen of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, 4GB of RAM and storage of 64 GB. The price tag of the first device will be of $371. The second one will be priced at $533.
No information about Xiaomi’s two new products’ availability outside Chinese market was issued.
