While just a short while ago, some people would hush up and meekly looking away on the topic of how they met their current significant others, the matchmaking app Tinder has gone a long way since. Despite its bad reputation for being nothing more than a ‘hook up’ hub, the app seems to be putting a lot of effort into improving its capabilities of finding someone right for you. One of the latest methods the developers have thought of doing so may feel a little odd for some, but it may very well just work.
This latest feature of which we speak is a suggest function that allows you to give a little helping hand to your friends looking for their match. The change that went live this weekend allows you to share a profile that you come across with a friend, sending them a temporary link to check out in regards to the profile you found. This link will only last for 72 hours or five clicks, in which time you can swipe right and even appear in the shared user’s recommendation list.
But you will only make it into the recommendation list as long as you fulfill your potential match’s preferences and have enough things in common. Beyond that, it’s up to them whether they let swipe left or right.
This feature is something that exists right now thanks to the users, really. Tinder vice president Rosette Pambakian says that this has been one of the most popular feature requests they received from their users, so it was only a matter of time until the company decided to give it a shot.
Right now, the feature is still in testing phase and hasn’t been made available in all of the countries that have access to Tinder. Not only that, but it would appear that the new features have different appearances according to what area it is implemented in too.
Depending on how well the public receives this new feature, as well as all the improvements, optimizations and privacy options that it will receive over its testing and development phase, it’s likely that it will be pushed to the Tinder app in most if not all countries that use it.
This is only the latest of many other features that Tinder added to its app over the last year. Other features worth mentioning would be the Passport, which allows you to change your location to a new one to look for people outside your usual circles, as well as Rewind – to help you get rid of those accidental right swipes.
