The Intel MICA Smartbracelet Will Win All Women’s Hearts

By Leave a Comment

smart bracelet MICA Intel

When it comes to wearable devices and haute couture, one would expect Apple to release yet another cool product for the young generation and receive public appraisal for it. Along the years, some independent companies also showcased a few innovative products and they were appreciated for their efforts. But it is safe to assume that nobody expected tech giant Intel to unveil a stylish, golden – plated, luxurious gadget dedicated to women, and yet, it did: the Intel MICA smarbracelet is a tech and fashion work of art.

Intel is not a company famous for its smartphones or tablets. Actually, the world’s top chipmaker was left behind on the mobile and wearable devices market by many other companies. However, playing the “surprise card”, just like Amazon does sometimes, Intel and fashion retailer Open Ceremony presented the world with the Intel MICA smartbracelet. According to those present at the event, MICA is a piece of hi – tech jewelry which doesn’t need an added smartphone.

My Intelligent Communication Accessory (MICA) is a snakeskin bracelet adorned with semi- precious stones, all complimented by an 18k gold coating. It comes in two luxurious versions:

“One style features black water snake skin, pearls from China and lapis stones from Madagascar, while the other style features white water snake skin, tiger’s eye from South Africa and obsidian from Russia”.

From a tech point of view, the Intel MICA smartbracelet features a curved sapphire 1.6 inch OLED screen and comes with an AT&T Sim card paid for two years in advance by Intel.

What else does the bracelet do? MICA sends vibration – based alerts, allows the user to accept or reject appointments, displays Google Calendar and Facebook event notifications, offers smart reminders and access to local search (with the help of Intel, TomTom and Yelp) and filters notifications and text messages by curating the VIP contact list. Security isn’t a concern either: the user can remotely access, locate and lock the bracelet, and work on its configurations via a web – based portal.

Since the Intel MICA smartbracelet is dedicated to connected, busy, sociable and highly fashion – conscious women, the bracelet comes with a high – end price too: it was launched at the sum of $495 and promised to hit the market in early December this year. This spectacular Christmas gift powered by Intel can be found in Opening Ceremony and Barney’s fashion stores.

The Intel MICA launch event represented a good occasion for the company to release other news: besides the partnership with Open Ceremony, Intel announced they acquired Basis, a smartwatch  manufacturer, and teamed up with Fossil in order to create hi – tech, fashionable accessories.

OnBeep Communication Wearable Receives More Development Funds

By Leave a Comment

“From people organizing sports events and music festivals, to friends on a ski trip, to parents keeping track of kids at the zoo, our most memorable experiences are created when people work together in real time. OnBeep brings mobile groups together without the distraction of looking at their phone,” says Jesse Robbins, CEO & Founder of OnBeep. “We make it easy for people to instantly connect, collaborate and do amazing things together.”

The start-up OnBeep was founded last year and promises to deliver a gadget which will improve team communication. That is most of what we know about OnBeep communication wearable, the quasi-mysterious device soon to be launched. OnBeep managed to raise $6.25 million to turn this idea into a final product. Venture Beat informs us that “It’s got a clip, a mic, a mic jack, a speaker, and a volume button.” The walkie-talkie gadget can connect to wireless communication networks and offer such a high quality signal that you should be able to identify the interlocutor by voice alone.

The first batch of products will be shipped at the end of the year. The ‘Star Trek Communicator’ style gadget will connect through Bluetooth to your smartphone. Afterward, chatting with a pre-defined group can be started through voice activation alone.

OnBeep is not the only communication wearable around. GoTenna is a new communication device that works where there is no cellphone signal, making it incredibly useful for tourists and workers in remote rural areas. Similarly, goTenna connects to your smartphone and has a couple of functions, including group messaging.

OnBeep communication wearable sounds excitingly retrofuturistic

“It’s sort of like a badge or a brooch. It connects via Bluetooth to your phone, and it’s focused on real-time group communication,” claims Jesse Robbins, CEO of OneBeep, according to Venture Beat.

OnBeep communication wearable received more development funding

The company already gave prototypes to some people who OnBeep thinks will be their main clientele for the OnBeep communication wearable, mobile professionals who need permanent connection with their teams.

Wearables are extremely trendy at the moment. On the one hand, there are companies such as OnBeep and goTenna, who aim to fill communication gaps with hardware, and on the other there are software companies doing complementary jobs. Google Maps is an extraordinary product that is constantly upgraded. With Google Maps Coordinate, team managers can follow field workers on a live map and assign tasks more efficiently.

The Meme Smartglasses Don’t Let You Fall Asleep

By Leave a Comment

meme smartglasses

It is a wonderful tech world out there and it would be a pity not to take advantage of its innovations. There are a lot of “smart” things that make a consistent part of our lives, from smartphones to smartcars, and we are more than happy to have access to them.

Recent news tell us that the smart devices family will soon welcome a new member, the Meme smartglasses, a pair of common – looking glasses that have the ability to wake us up when they “sense” we are about to fall asleep. This revolutionary device is manufactured by Japanese company JINS and is set to launch in Japan next spring. The good news is that the glasses will cost around $685 and they might actually save our lives, our jobs and even our relationships.

How do the Meme Smartglasses work?

Have you ever experienced the dangers of falling asleep while driving? Did you ever took an accidental nap during a college course or a boring team meeting at the office? And were you ever reproached to have fallen asleep while your partner was about to make a point in the conversation? Well, starting next year, if you want to avoid all these unfortunate occurrences, you may look into the Meme smartglasses. According to the specialists,

the Meme uses eye and motion tracking in order to figure out when you’re tired. Once it knows that you’re a bit sleepy, the Meme will send a notification to your smartphone via a companion app and buzz in your pocket.

Joke aside, the issue of falling asleep while driving is very serious and the Meme might actually be a brilliant way to prevent accidents and even save some lives. One nice aspect regarding the device is that it looks pretty normal and few will know you are wearing a Bluetooth wearable gadget. Some specialists admitted they couldn’t wait for the Meme smartglasses to be imported in the United States, although  there is no information regarding this particular subject.

Besides their waking – up skills, the Meme smartglasses also sport some healthy features such as calorie counting and step tracking. The Japanese will be blessed with three different Meme models, varying from traditionally looking glasses to cool sunglasses as well. It may be a coincidence, but it seems that JINS worked hard to make their glasses look as wearable as possible in comparison to the famous Google Glass. Even if the Glass is way more technologically advanced, it can’t elbow you in the stomach every time you doze off, so everybody is waiting for the Meme smartglasses with their arms open.

3 New Wearable Gadgets Reemo, Optinvent Ora, SnapWatch

By Leave a Comment

optinvent ora wearable gadgetsThere were a lot of wearable devices presented at the 2014 London Wearable tech show that stood out from the crowd, from smartwatches to smart jackets. Out of hundreds of gizmos that were revealed at the show we want to present you our top 3 of new wearable gadgets.

Reemo

Reemo is a gesture band that works like a computer mouse which allows the user to interact with everything around him , from lights to alarm clocks, to TV and it can also be used as an actual desktop mouse. Muhammad Abdurraham, CEO of Playtabase describes Reemo as a combination between a remote control and a mouse. It was initially designed to help ease his father’s life after suffering a series of strokes. The Reemo bracelet works with point gestures and it’s designed to be able to make the distinction between the objects you’re pointing at, even though the objects are very close to one another which makes it one of the most interesting new wearable gadgets this year.

Reemo will cost around $125 and will be available starting with May this year.

Optinvent Ora

This was one of the coolest new wearable gadgets presented in London and it aims to be an alternative to the recent smart glasses from Google and Vuzix. Optinvent Ora is an augmented reality pair of glasses that has a see-through screen in front of your eyes. It was built on Android smartpones and it has a bigger screen than Google Glass, three times bigger actually. You can mount the Optinvent Ora glass screen directly in front of your sight or you can flip it down below.

The Optinvent glasses will cost €700 and it should be launched on the market in 2015.

SnapWatch

SnapWatch was first theorized as a concept back in 1999 and was later patented in 2005 and it looks like a snap bracelet from the 90’s. SnapWatch is actually a combination between a steel snapband and a flexible electronic display. It comes with a bi-stable electrochromic display that was developed by Acreo, a Swedish supplier. On their website, SnapWatch is meant to be a watch that plays and replays music and also displays messages. We’re sure SnapWatch will be one of the coolest new wearable gadgets once it will appear on the market.
