Rumors are Saying Windows 9 Will Be Free to Windows 8 Owners

September 29, 2014 By Daniel Giordano Leave a Comment

Last week we talked about how, according to some sources, Windows 9 will not be called Windows anymore. Today, we’ve got some exciting news for Microsoft lovers! It appears that the tech giant is trying to make up for Windows 8 by giving the new Microsoft operating system, Windows 9, for free to all Windows 8 users. You heard that right, most likely Windows 9 will be free to anyone who already owns Windows 8!

Windows 9 Will be Free for Windows 8 Users

This rumor has been out there for quite some time, but it seems there is some truth to it. According to the Indonesian news site Detik.com, the new operating system from Microsoft is going to be free of charge to anyone who has Windows 8 on their computer and tablets. The update will be done automatically, which leaves some people wondering if this is the right way of approaching operating system updates.

Windows 9 will be free

Forcing an update doesn’t go well with many users, but in the case of Windows 8, many, if not all, are going to welcome the new operating system from Microsoft. It’s no secret that Windows 8 is Microsoft’s biggest flop and that many users still hate the OS, one year after it was launched.

The rumors are also saying that Windows 9 will be launched at the Microsoft San Francisco event on September 30 (tomorrow) and be available for the public at the beginning of 2015 (most likely in April).

Are you a Microsoft Windows 8 user? Do you like this operating system? Are you happy about the rumor that Windows 9 will be free to Windows 8 users? Are you going to upgrade? Drop us a line in the comment section below and share your thoughts with us.

Microsoft New Keyboard Released: Works with Windows, iOS and Android

September 17, 2014 By Lori David Leave a Comment

On Tuesday Microsoft has revealed a new product. The Microsoft new keyboard is their latest device that was designed to be compatible with all the important operating systems, including Windows, Android and iOS.

To use the Microsoft new keyboard you need to turn on the Bluetooth mode called Universal Mobile Keyboard. The new device has a special key, one which looks a little like a chiclet, and also the keyboard features a switch for changing the operating system. Basically you can choose which OS you want to use just by turning on this switch. The Microsoft new keyboard has a rechargeable battery that can last up to six month after one single charge, at least that’s what Microsoft says.

The new keyboard also comes with an integrated stand that you can detach at anytime, allowing you to position the tablet anywhere you like. The Microsoft new keyboard will be available in October and it will cost $79.95. You can find it at the Microsoft stores and other specialized retailers.

Suzanne Choney, Microsoft spokesperson explained:

“People frequently find they have a mixture of operating system platforms, resulting in them having to carry different accessories for each device. Microsoft’s new Universal Mobile Keyboard helps address that.”

Microsoft New Keyboard Released

Microsoft used to be a leader in computer accessories, remember? We all had Microsoft keyboards or mice. Their new keyboard was not the only product Microsoft announced recently. They also revealed a new Android version of their popular application OneNote. This will be compatible with Google’s Android wear smartwatch platform. It looks like Microsoft want to expand their horizon to more than their Windows products like the Windows Phone.

What do you think about the Microsoft new keyboard? Would you buy one for you Windows, Android or devices? Do you think it is an important accessory? Please comment in the section below.

Windows 9 New Rumors: Release Date, Price and Features

September 16, 2014 By David Crozier 1 Comment

We all know that the previous version of Windows, which was Windows 8 was no big hit. At the time of its release no one seemed to like it. Some argued that it tried too hard to blend together mobile and desktop and they successfully failed at doing it. That wasn’t the only reason for Windows 8 fail. The other, most important was the rise of smartphones and tablets, while the PCs were left lagging behind.

There have been plenty of rumors around the new version of Windows 9 and one is that it will be a lot faster than any of its predecessors.

The new Windows 9 is said to be officially announced on the 30th of September and the new version should be made available on PCs, tablets, phones and laptops.

windows 9

There are rumors saying that Windows 9 will officially released somewhere around April 2015 but we all know how these things work, it could be earlier than that or much later. We’re still waiting for official updates from Microsoft and we’ll let you know.

Some sources say that Windows 9 will not feature the Charms bar on desktops, that menu which pops in from the right and has buttons like share, search, setting and start, but it will supposedly be found on the new tablets.

There are also documents saying that a Windows Phone 9 is in the making but an official release date has not yet been disclosed. It will probably be announced along with Windows 9. Same goes for the price of Windows 9.

We are looking forward to see if Windows 9 can put Microsoft back on its track. With the release of the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus no one is really interested in what Microsoft is doing.

What do you think about the upcoming Windows 9? Leave your comments in the section below.

Microsoft Windows 9 Will Be Presented Next Month

August 21, 2014 By Nicholas Anderton Leave a Comment

Unfortunately for Microsoft, Windows 8 popularity was at Vista levels. Sure, it is a design masterpiece, but you can truly appreciate the shapes, colors and transition animations only on a touch screen device. For regular desktop and laptop Windows users, the Metro style seems pointless at best and frustrating at worst. However, this is an old story, which was partly resolved with the 8.1 update.

Probably Microsoft wants us to get over Windows 8 as fast as possible, as after only two full years of service, the company announces its successor. Microsoft Windows 9 will allegedly be presented at the end of September. The next Windows version will be named ‘Threshold’, but we all know that we are talking about Windows 9.

If we would count every device with an OS, Android clearly seats at the top. However, most desktop and laptop computers run Windows. Many public and private institutions run a Windows version. Gartner warned a week ago that institutions should plan ahead the next OS upgrade. Windows 7 reaches its end of life cycle in 2020, but what happened this April when Microsoft stopped supporting XP must be avoided.

Microsoft Windows 9 will feature the intelligent personal assistant Cortana

The Verge released some info about a potential launching event taking place on September 30th. The date is not final yet. So what can we expect from the new OS version? One change seems to be a revamping of the start menu. There were a couple of leaked images of it running around the Internet a month ago. The next Windows version is going to be more keyboard and mouse friendly. If that is true, we suspect many Windows fans will skip Windows 8 and jump from 7 to 9 directly.

Microsoft Windows 9 will be introduced in September

Another important feature of Microsoft Windows 9 will be the disappearance of the Charms bar. Some other design changes are expected as well. Another exciting feature will be the integration of Microsoft’s personal digital assistant, Cortana. Microsoft Windows 9 desktop and laptop users will benefit from Cortana after Windows Phone 8.1 users already got the chance to check out the new feature. As the feature is still in beta testing mode, it is not clear yet if Cortana will be available in the preview version, the Verge notes.

During the same event, Microsoft is expected to present as well a combined version of Windows RT and Windows Phone.
