The new OLED iPhone 8 will be equipped with a curved display instead of a flat panel. Also, it may use a new touch-sensitive technology. Many experts have argued that Apple is planning to launch a premium version of their new iPhone scheduled for 2017. The new version will use an OLED foldable display being the latest technology. On December 18, a new report was published regarding the new smartphone and Apple’s plan to use a curved screen instead of an LCD.
The curved screen of the new iPhone 8 will be similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 one. Its display was described as being the best existing on the market. The OLED iPhone 8 will have a curved display because Apple has ordered all plastic OLED displays from Samsung Display. Samsung is bound to provide approximately a hundred million OLED displays for the development of Apple’s new iPhone.
Others’ speculations have outlined Apple’s purpose of launching several iPhone models. These ideas were determined by some suggestions which implied the delay of OLED technology due to the lack of sufficient supplies. Samsung represents the only supplier of OLED displays for Apple in 2017. Sharp and LG are listed among the companies which are used to boost the production for 2019.
Unfortunately, the last report demonstrated that supply limitation might shape the difference at the 10th anniversary of iPhone line-up. Many sources argue that the capacity of the curved OLED display powered by Samsung was estimated to reach about 70 million to approximately a hundred million units.
These figures are in line with other previous predictions, but unfortunately, it represents less than half of the annual sales of Apple’s iPhone series. The usual number of sales usually reaches approximately two hundred million units per year. The new report states that the new Apple’s device which will appear next year will not be equipped with a foldable display, but it will still have new updates to differentiate it from Samsung’s latest technology.
The new iPhone 8 will be outfitted with a revolutionary sensing technology that is bound to allow the phone to answer when users touch any part of the device. Fans were expecting more details, but the source did not divulge more. Some other rumors implied that the redesigned version of the iPhone might include a glass body and wireless charging.
