Windows 8.1 on Tablets

Toshiba is a strong competitor on the gadget market. Just take a look at the Toshiba Satellite P55t Laptop and how it is challenging the MacBook Pro. Today we’ve got some great news for Windows and Toshiba lovers. Toshiba will put Windows 8.1 on tablets! How about that, Toshiba fans?

Windows 8.1 on Tablets – Toshiba’s Newest Move

Toshiba just announced their new additions to their 2014 back-to school lineup. It includes two competitively priced 8 inch and 10 inch tablets that will run Windows 8.1 with Bing. The two tablets are called Encore 2. To make things even more exciting, they announced an even cheaper 7 inch Android tablet.

So this is the trend Toshiba wants to follow: the low-price Windows and Android Oss trend. We think that it’s a good move, if they make the gadgets a little bit appealing. They don’t have to put flagship-like features on their tablets, but they do have to make an effort. And that they did!

It seems that the effort can show, because all three tablets will have Intel’s quad-core Atom Z375F processor. The Encore 2 with an 8 inch screen will have a 1 GB of internal memory and 32 GB of storage with a price of $199 and the Encore 2 with the 10 inch screen will have the same technical specifications as the 8 inch tablet and it will cost $269.

This is a huge step forward for Toshiba. If you don’t remember, allow us to refresh your memory. They launched the initial Encore tablet, the Encore 1, for $329 and it had an 8 inch screen.

The 7 inch Android tablet is called the Excite Go and will have 1 GB of internal memory and 8 GB of storage. It will have a MicroSD card slot for additional storage and also a Micro USB port for file transfers. The street price of the Excite Go is going to be a cool $100.

Both Encore 2 models will have IPS displays with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels which is decent and not mind blowing. But hey, at that price who expects something mind blowing? They will each have one front camera (1.2 MP, 720p) and one back camera (5MP, 1080p). If the internal storage isn’t satisfactory, then you’ll be happy to find out that the tablets have MicroSD card slots that can support up to 128GB. And lastly, they both have Bluetooth 4.0 and stereo speakers.

What are your thoughts on Windows 8.1 on tablets? Are you excited about these three tablets?
