You must have already gotten used to the elaborated trailers Blizzard creates for its games. Now, the video game company decided to bring the cinematic experience to a whole new level and, during Gamescom, it released the first Hearthstone animated short in an upcoming series of mini animated movies.
The trailer reminds of Disney and Pixar movies
The trailer presents a little girl roaming around in a forest covered in snow. As she was walking aimlessly, she stumbles upon a Hearthstone box abandoned in the forest, and a tiny mouse which sat on it. As soon as she touches the box, something magical happens.
The girl is teleported to a warm tavern full of goblins, orcs, wizards, and all kinds of magical creatures sitting right next to humans at the tables. All of them were having a good time together, and were enjoying a good old Hearthstone game. Then, all characters break into song and dance, turning Hearthstone into a musical.
This is a clever way to depict the atmosphere of the games, while combining it with the typical elements of cinematic animations. The Hearthstone animated short reminds us of Disney of Pixar, as it preserved that innocent atmosphere captured in their musicals. Everybody is jolly and hospitable, and all of them want to share a good time with the others.
Blizzard has released other animated shorts as well
The Hearthstone animated short is not the first of its kind in the Blizzard universe. Overwatch has also received a similar video which, in fact, is quite similar to the recently released one. They both showcase a wandering heroine who has to fight the blizzard and, in both videos, she meets an adorable non-speaking companion.
Both companions have the secret to the heroine’s escape from the blizzard. They help her find the box which can transport her to the warm and welcoming Stonebrew Tavern, where various characters found shelter from the snow. The Hearthstone animated short will benefit from some sequels, but Blizzard didn’t reveal any date for their release.
