Portable speakers are in high fashion nowadays. They make entertainment easy as you can always turn the pressure off and the music on, by connecting one wireless speaker to your cellphone and have a great time listening to your favorite music and ignoring all the trouble outside.
The thing is, some companies get over themselves, by creating these sophisticated devices which are not necessarily useful, but they are versatile to say the least. And maybe a bit uncomfortable. Now we have a Sony wireless speaker which works as a TV remote control as well. The reason behind their invention is yet unknown but it is quite hard to use a bulky speaker as a remote control for your TV screen.
It is a rather bizarre accessory. The purpose behind it was to be able to make you hear your TV when you are away from it. Basically, you can sit back, do nothing but press some buttons and enjoy the ambiance you are creating.
The speaker can be paired with your TV via a dongle and it doesn’t cost that much. For $165 worth you have a great gadget and some added comfort. Sony is once more highly innovative, although it appears that the guys have nothing better to do than imagine peculiar combos that don’t exactly fit in your acquired taste for technology.
What’s even more peculiar than the device itself is that the company is targeting the Japanese market only, at least for the moment, because everything on the device is written in Japanese. Well, maybe they are trying to experiment and see how a single market reacts before launching the device in all directions, considering it is pretty much experimental.
Apart from its highly original use, the remote weighs almost a pound and it comes with a base station which helps you connect it to your TV, as to deliver the audio recharge to the device. Sony’s wireless speaker also comes with a battery life of 16 hours.
Features include a headphone jack, a large volume knob, auto power-off and drip resistance. It’s still curious and we will soon see whether the device will provide some usefulness to the targeted users.
As a Sony PR has mentioned, the speaker is highly “useful when it is difficult to hear in conjunction with the family”. So, if someone complains about the noise during their favorite TV show, you can just keep the speaker closer or hand over some headphones.
