Mark Shuttleworth, founder, Canonical, has announced that Ubuntu Touch will be all set for usage in just about a few weeks. This has led to a wave of excitement n the industry. After all, the much awaited and expected Ubuntu Touch operating system is promising to get better and better and looks very promising.
Canonical, the company behind Ubuntum released Ubuntu Touch Preview way back in February. Although consisting of dummy data, the OS was very much liked and downloaded 75,000 times in the first 6 hours itself. It had very few working apps and featured fake Facebook notifications and contacts.
It was obvious that quite a few things did not work in Ubuntu Touch Preview and the platform was still not ready for real applications. There are no core apps, too. But things seem to be proceeding at good speed now and Ubuntu Touch will be ready for actual use in just few weeks.
Ubuntu Touch OS may be with us sooner than expected. This is going to offer separate encryption for user sessions, thus being a real solution for enterprises. There is complete disk encryption too for the enterprises. This is going to be the most secure OS as everything is tied up in the LDAP or Active Directory, thus being an important asset for any sensitive data.
Ubuntu Touch is the first completely protected and locked tablet that can be used for finance, military purposes, medical and to handle any sensitive information. Most enthusiasts are very excited about the new operating system and believe it could be a convincing substitute to Android and iOS.
Well, this is a promising start for the semaphores with an early version of Ubuntu’s touch-centric OS. It looks smart and works smart and will be worth watching how it develops with time and progress.
