Considering Tim Cook’s statement that Apple will not release any new devices post Fall this year, it may happen that US Cellular will begin with carrying iPhone 5S.
US Cellular is one of the largest carriers in the U.S. It has a bagful of Android and other smartphone devices to provide its consumers with. But until now, US Cellular did not show any specific interest over distributing iPhones.
US Cellular CEO Mary Dillion stated that this will be a humble strategy to enlarge the customer database of US Cellular. The carrier actively offers Android smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S4 as well as other Android devices from HTC, Motorola, LG and ZTE.
It is surprising that one of the largest regional carriers in the U.S. does not provide Apple devices, whilst other regional rivals like Cricket and C Spire are presently providing the iPhone 5.
In 2011, US Cellular stated that it would be unable to host Apple devices due to incompatibility in profitability viewpoint but side-by-side also declared that it is open to carry iPhones in future if things are sorted out suitably. US Cellular covers 26 states in the U.S. and possessed a customer base of 5.8 million in 2012.
US Cellular is also looking forward to organize a 4G LTE network, which is not only essential to let users potentially utilize iPhone devices, but most of the modern smartphones demand an active 4G LTE network to showcase their efficacy. This decision of US Cellular may prove beneficial for both Apple and US Cellular itself.
