As it appears, the Virus Shield app is just a scam that doesn’t do anything except for changing its icon into a check symbol when the app is activated. What’s even weirder is that this scam app had a rating of 4.7 stars on Google Play which only proves how easily the users can be fooled. The outrageous part is that the Virus Shield app costs $3.99 and was purchased by more than 10.000 people so who ever created this app is surely enjoying some “well deserved” money.
Good thing that the scam app made some people at Google Plus suspicious and they called the Android Police to investigate it. They decompiled the app and found out that the Virus Shield app had nothing to do with security and protection of the files. They immediately removed it from the Play Store but unfortunately, the people who paid for it didn’t get their money back.
Virus Shield app – the future of scams?
This only raises the question of how are we supposed to know what apps are good and what are just scams, if the rating is obviously not as trustworthy as we thought?
We just hope that Google find a way to improve this because it won’t be long until the scam apps will flood the app stores.
